St. John Fort is located on the southeastern corner of the Dubrovnik Fortification. Built originally in the 14th century, it was subsequently modified and enlarged.
The location of the fort was selected to protect Dubrovnik's "Old Port" from invaders.

St. John Fort is currently home to an Aquarium and to the Maritime Museum. It is also a great place to enjoy the view.
